“Under the slogan “For a healthy Christmas and because it is fashionable to take care of yourself” the journalist and writer Pilar Carrizosa, expert in healthy food and travel, presents on December 11th at the emblematic and historic Lhardy Restaurant since 1839, in Madrid, an informative breakfast to the press, which is the star event this Christmas, including a salad of Lodyn goat cheese with raspberries and extra virgin olive oil with walnuts.
The 2nd Edition of the “Healthy Christmas Menu 2017” that welcomes “the other side of Christmas” away from fat by advocating the healthy concept to the table.
Who has said that Christmas becomes synonymous with accumulating pounds (kgs), toxins and gastronomic ravages? Is the idea of finding pleasure in healthy eating with celebrating Christmas hard-fought? The answer is no. Christmas is not synonymous with fats nor does it necessarily have to be related to food exuberances. The healthy and artisanal product, the one of the field and the orchard, those that contain vitamins and minerals, dietary fiber and other nutrients, those of consumption that help to displace the excessive consumption of foods rich in fats, sugars or salt, are the protagonists of “Healthy Christmas”. They are the ones proposed in this menu designed by Pilar Carrizosa and under the free interpretation of the Executive Chef of Lhardy, Ricardo Quintana. The objective of this initiative is therefore to “break” the “gastro-excess”, and replace it with the product of the garden and artisan production in the month of December, and add it as a new premise of our festive recipe book .
QUALITY OF LIFE, TO THE SON OF THE WREATH …
Arrived the Christmas dates with their more than traditional excesses, it is good to collect alternatives that take care of our health without having to renounce the flavor and the quality. Note that not even excluding a “gastro-whim” in these parties, we talk about a commitment to quality of life and excellence for people who take care of themselves within the new “responsible conscience” where you can enjoy gourmet products on sale in fat and sugars with vitamins and minerals that favor healthy habits.
We must remember that Spain is the second country in Europe behind the United Kingdom. with more obese people and 25% of the Spanish population suffers from this problem or has overweight problems, according to a study carried out in 2016 by the Imperal College Research Center in London together with the World Health Organization (WHO). In this sense, it is key to develop healthy initiatives that contribute to curb this problem with the intake of more products such as vegetables and fruits, meats reduced in grasses and products that favor that our body contributes to be at the appropriate levels. Obesity is a growing problem that already affects 20% of the adult population in Spain. However, the vast majority of those affected ignore the problem. “
